Vs.

Napster was one of the first online downloadable music service . Was Napster wrong? During my class of Businesss Ethics it’s a question that came to my mind several times.

For the first time in the music industry, the format used to carry the music was used illegally before being used legally. People were listening digital music through their computer or through MP3 players but the music industry was still focusing on selling music through CD format. People had to convert their own CDs into the MP3 format. There was a growing demand for listening music through the MP3 format and for having the possibility to get the songs they wanted directly online in the MP3 format. The music industry did not offer a legal service that would allow internet users to download music instead the music industry was still trying to sell the whole CD with all the songs. But how many people in the 21^st century still listen to the whole CD? (more…)
